Tanzania’s AG appeals against court ruling increasing marriage age for females to 18

Tanzania’s Attorney General George Masaju has appealed against a 2016 ruling by the high court raising the marriage age for girls from 15 to 18 july.

The court hit out the Sections 13 and 17 of this statutory law of Marriage Act that allowed girls to marry in the chronilogical age of 14 and 15, after which 18 years for men after it was petitioned by girls’ liberties advocate Rebeca Gyumi. (daha&helliip;)
